Why does a crypto cashback platform ask for my UID?

Your UID is the exchange's public account number, and it is the only identifier an exchange needs to report which trading fees belong to which referred account. A cashback platform asks for it so the rebate can be matched to your fees — a UID alone can't log in, trade or withdraw anything.

What the UID is used for

Exchanges that run an affiliate program report fee data per referred account, and each account is identified by its UID. When you link your UID, the platform can look up the fees that account generated and calculate your fee rebate from them. Nothing else about the account is needed to do that.

It is the same reason a store loyalty card asks for a card number and not your bank PIN: the number tells the system whose purchases to count.

What a UID cannot do

  • It is not a password, so it cannot log in to your account
  • It is not an API key, so it cannot place or cancel orders
  • It is not a wallet address, so nothing can be sent to or from it on its own
  • It does not expose your balance or open positions to the platform

The account has to be opened through the platform's partner link for the match to exist at all. That link is set when the account is created. Referral code vs rebate platform, compared →

What a platform should never ask for

A rebate calculated from fees needs no access to your funds. Be wary of any service that asks for:

  • your exchange password or 2FA codes
  • an API key with trading or withdrawal permission
  • a deposit into the platform before the rebate starts

loweef works without any of these: no deposit, no API withdrawal permission, no custody. Your funds stay on your own exchange account the whole time.

How the rebate then reaches you

Once the UID is linked, the exchange reports the fees from that account and the rebate accrues per trade at the current partner rates:

Exchange Total rate Welcome boost Effective taker
AlphaX 65% — 0.0175%
BingX 60% 70% 0.0200%
OKX 50% 60% 0.0250%
MEXC 55% 65% 0.0180%

The rate varies by exchange between 50% and 65% of your trading fees. What is a fee rebate, in full → · Estimate your own number →

Frequently asked questions

Can someone use my UID to access my exchange account?

No. A UID is an account number, not a credential. Logging in requires your password and 2FA, and trading or withdrawing requires those or an API key — none of which a UID provides.

Is my UID private information?

It is an identifier rather than a secret, and exchanges show it in places like referral and transfer screens. It's still reasonable to share it only with a service you are actually linking to.

Why not just ask for an API key instead?

A rebate is calculated from fees reported by the exchange's affiliate system, so no key is needed. Asking for one would add risk without adding information, which is why a platform that requests trading or withdrawal permission deserves extra caution.

Where do I find my UID?

In your exchange account's profile or account settings. The step-by-step location differs by exchange, for example in the OKX UID guide or the BingX UID guide.
