Referral code
A referral code is a short identifier entered at exchange sign-up that permanently links your new account to a referrer. It decides who receives the affiliate commission on your future trading fees.
The code looks trivial — a text field at registration — but it sets a durable economic relationship. Every fee your account pays afterwards generates a commission share for whoever owns the code, under the exchange's affiliate program. On most exchanges this attribution is fixed at account creation and difficult or impossible to change later.
That permanence is why the code you choose matters more than any sign-up gift attached to it. A typical influencer code offers a one-time bonus while the owner keeps the recurring commission; a rebate platform's code routes that recurring commission into an ongoing payback to you (50–67% of fees on loweef's partners, for as long as you trade).
If you registered without a code, or under one that returns nothing, your options depend on the exchange: some allow referral changes under conditions, others require a new account. loweef's per-exchange guides document the honest paths, including when a change is simply not possible.
