What does OKX copy trading cost a copy trader?
Two things. OKX's copy trading FAQ says trading fees are the same as the regular fees for your trading tier, with no other transaction fees — plus a profit share paid to the lead trader. The profit share is settled weekly and only on your net profit from that trader after trading fees, and it waits until you and the lead trader have no linked positions left. Funding on copied perpetual positions works as it does on any position.
Cost 1: trading fees at your own tier
OKX's copy trading FAQ answers this directly: trading fees on copied trades are the same as the regular fees for your trading tier, and there are no other transaction fees. Each copied fill pays notional value × your maker or taker rate, at the open and again at the close (how futures fees are calculated). OKX also notes that lead traders can only close positions with market orders, and a market close fills as a taker (maker vs taker fees).
Because the lead trader decides how often to trade, the fee line grows with their activity. The trade history of each copied position shows the fee on every fill.
Cost 2: the lead trader's profit share
OKX's profit-sharing rules page (updated August 2026) works like this:
- Weekly cycle: the settlement cycle runs from Monday 00:00 to Sunday 23:59:59 (UTC+8), and the profit share is calculated every Monday at 00:00 (UTC+8).
- Net profit after fees: profit and loss on each copied order offset each other, and the share applies only to your net profit for the cycle after trading fees have been deducted. A losing week costs no profit share.
- Withholding and refund: an amount is withheld from profits as you go; if the share actually owed is smaller, the difference goes back to your trading account.
- Linked positions: sharing happens only once you and the lead trader no longer have linked positions. If positions are still open on the settlement date, it waits until they close.
- The ratio: set by the lead trader within limits tied to their lead-trader level, and changeable a few times a month. OKX's FAQ and its rules page currently show different ranges, so read the ratio on the lead trader's profile before you copy.
The rules page doesn't say whether funding is counted in that net profit, so check the settlement detail in your account if it matters for your strategy.
Cost 3: funding
Copied perpetual positions pay or receive funding at each funding time like any other position (what a funding fee is). Lead traders who hold positions for days expose you to more funding than intraday traders.
What a fee rebate can and can't touch
- Profit share: not affected. It is paid to the lead trader under OKX's rules; a rebate has no say in it.
- Trading fees: a rebate returns a share of the trading fees the exchange reports for your linked account. OKX treats copied trades as regular trades at your fee tier, and its sub-account FAQ says trades in sub-accounts generate rebates credited to the main account when the main account has a rebate rate — copy trading can run in a sub-account (sub-accounts and rebates). OKX doesn't publish a separate statement on copy trading fees and affiliate commission, so if most of your volume is copy trading, compare your first days of accruals with the fees on your copied trades (what to check when a rebate doesn't arrive).
Current rebate figures on loweef's partner exchanges:
| Exchange | Total rate | Welcome boost | Effective taker |
|---|---|---|---|
| AlphaX | 65% | — | 0.0175% |
| BingX | 60% | 70% | 0.0200% |
| OKX | 50% | 60% | 0.0250% |
| MEXC | 55% | 65% | 0.0180% |
OKX lists countries and regions where copy trading isn't offered, so check availability in its FAQ first. The rules differ on other exchanges — see MEXC copy trading fees and BingX copy trading fees. Figures are estimates based on published fee schedules; profit-share terms are set by OKX and each lead trader and can change. Copying a trader copies their losses too.
Frequently asked questions
Does OKX charge extra trading fees for copy trading?
No. OKX's copy trading FAQ says trading fees are the same as the regular fees for your trading tier and no other transaction fees are charged. The other cost is the profit share paid to the lead trader.
When is the OKX profit share settled?
Weekly. The cycle runs Monday to Sunday (UTC+8) and the share is calculated every Monday at 00:00 (UTC+8), but only once you and the lead trader have no linked positions left.
Is the profit share charged on a losing week?
No. OKX applies the profit share only to your net profit for the cycle after trading fees, and profits and losses on copied orders offset each other.
Does a fee rebate reduce the profit share?
No. The profit share goes to the lead trader under OKX's rules. A rebate only returns part of the trading fees the exchange reports for your linked account.
