What does MEXC copy trading cost a follower?

Two things. Each copied order pays the normal futures trading fee — MEXC says the copy trade account inherits the fee rate of your main account — and if the copied trades end a settlement period in profit, a profit share goes to the lead trader (one tenth by default, set by each trader). There is no separate charge for following. Funding applies to copied perpetual positions as it does to any other.

Cost 1: trading fees on every copied order

Copied trades are ordinary futures orders placed in your copy trade account, so each opening and closing fill pays a trading fee: notional value × your maker or taker rate (how futures fees are calculated). In a January 2023 update MEXC said the copy trade account inherits the fee rate of its parent account, so a lower tier on your main account carries over. MEXC's standard futures taker rate is 0.04%; copied entries and exits that hit the book immediately are charged as takers.

Because a lead trader can open and close many positions a day, the fee line grows with their activity, not yours. Check the trade history of a copied position to see the fee on each fill.

Cost 2: the lead trader's profit share

MEXC's profit-share rules (updated September 2026) work like this:

  • Rate: set by the lead trader. The default is one tenth of profit; MEXC caps it, with a higher cap for private lead trading, and a trader can change it at most once a day. The rate is shown on the trader's page before you copy.
  • Only on net profit: a share is charged only if your realized profit or loss from that trader over the settlement period is above zero. A losing period costs you no profit share.
  • Daily settlement: settled once a day between 16:00 and 17:00 UTC. Partially closed positions aren't counted until fully closed, and if you still hold positions tied to the trader, settlement waits. Unfollowing settles immediately.
  • Pre-freeze: part of your realized profit is held in an intermediary account at the share rate; what isn't owed to the trader is returned to your USDT-M futures account.

MEXC's own examples of profit sharing exclude all trading-related fees, so treat profit share and trading fees as two separate lines when you add up the cost.

Cost 3: funding

Copied perpetual positions pay or receive funding at each funding time like any other position (what a funding fee is). A trader who holds positions for days exposes you to more funding than one who trades intraday.

What a fee rebate can and can't touch

  • Profit share: not affected. It is paid to the lead trader under their terms; a rebate has no say in it.
  • Trading fees: a rebate returns a share of the trading fees the exchange reports for your linked account. MEXC's public help pages don't say whether fees paid in the copy trade account are counted for referral commission, and MEXC lets only main accounts link a referrer (sub-accounts and rebates). If most of your volume is copy trading, compare your first days of accruals with the fees on your copied trades, and use what to check when a rebate doesn't arrive if something looks missing.

Current rebate figures on loweef's partner exchanges:

Exchange Total rate Welcome boost Effective taker
AlphaX 65% — 0.0175%
BingX 60% 70% 0.0200%
OKX 50% 60% 0.0250%
MEXC 55% 65% 0.0180%

The BingX rules are different — see BingX copy trading fees and rebates. Figures are estimates based on published fee schedules; profit-share terms are set by each lead trader and MEXC and can change. Copying a trader copies their losses too.

Frequently asked questions

Does MEXC charge followers a fee to copy a trader?

Not a separate one. Followers pay the normal futures trading fees on copied orders and, when the copied trades end a settlement period in profit, a profit share to the lead trader.

Is the profit share charged if I lose money?

No. MEXC charges a profit share only when your realized profit or loss from that trader over the settlement period is above zero.

Do copy trades use my normal MEXC fee rate?

MEXC said in a January 2023 update that the copy trade account inherits the fee rate of its parent account, so your main account's tier applies.

Does a fee rebate reduce the profit share?

No. The profit share is paid to the lead trader under their terms. A rebate only returns part of the trading fees the exchange reports for your linked account.
